흔히 배우자가 영주권자 / 시민권자이고 자신은 파트너 비자 (임시 2년 비자)를 가지고 있을 때 남편 / 부인이 자신에게 폭력을 가해도 참고 살아야 한다고 알고 있는지 모릅니다만 그렇지 않습니다.

호주에서는 어떤 경우에도 가정 폭력은 용납되지 않습니다.

가정 폭력으로 인해 헤어져야 하는 상황이 되더라도 그 임시비자를 가진 분들을 위한 법률이 따로 있습니다.

Partner visa holders do not have to remain in an abusive relationship to stay in Australia (호주에서 살며 파트너 비자를 가지고 있으면서 가정 폭력의 위협에 살필요는 없습니다.)

In Australia, domestic and family violence is not accepted. (호주에서 가장 폭력은 허용되지 않는다)

A partner, family members or other people in the community cannot threaten your visa status. (파트너, 가족 구성원 또는 공동체의 다른 누구도 자신이 가진 비자 상태를 협박할 수 없다.)

If you hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 300, 309 or 820) and experience family violence and your relationship ends, there are provisions in Australia’s migration laws to allow you to continue with your permanent Partner visa (subclass 100 or 801) application. 자신의 임시 파트너 비자 (300, 309 또는 820)을 가지고 있고 가정 폭력을 경험하며 두 사람의 관계가 끝난 경우 호주 이민법에 임시비자 홀더가 지속적으로 영주비자 (100 또는 801) 신청서가 지속되도록 하는 법률이 있습니다.

The Australian Government does not tolerate domestic and family violence under any circumstances (호주 정부는 *어떤 상황에서도* 가정 폭력에 관대하지 않습니다)

Domestic and family violence are crimes against the law.  A person who commits domestic or family violence can go to jail, whether they are a man or a woman. (가정폭력은 법을 어기는 폭력입니다. 가정폭력을 하는 사람은 감옥에 가게 될 것입니다 그사람이 남자든 여자든 간에)

Domestic and family violence is behaviour or threats that aim to control a male or female partner by causing fear for safety or wellbeing. (가정 폭력은 상대 남자 또는 여자 파트너에게 안전 또는 웰빙과 관련 겁을 유발하게 하는 것이 목적이 있는 언행 또는 겁주는 행위입니다.)

Anyone experiencing domestic and family violence in Australia can get help from support services (누구든 가정 폭력을 호주에서 경험하고 있다면 지원서비스들을 통해서 도움을 얻을 수 있습니다.)

You can get help no matter what your visa or immigration status is. (무슨 비자를 가지고 있던지 간에 도움을 얻을 수 있습니다)

It doesn’t matter if the relationship has ended or not – you can still get help. (두 사람의 관계가 끝났던 유지하던 관계 없습니다. 어떤 경우에도 도움을 얻을 수 있습니다.)

1800 RESPECT is Australia’s National Sexual Assault, Family and Domestic Violence Counselling service. It provides free, confidential telephone and online counselling and information. Counsellors will listen to you, answer questions and can refer you to other support services in your local area.

그리고 이 내용을 읽는 스폰서 (호주시민권자/영주권자)분이며 파트너가 외국인 신분이라고 해서 막 대하고 때리고 욱박지르고 돈을 갈취하는 행동을 하시면 안되겠습니다. ^.^ 역으로 생각할 때 “네가 이민성에 스폰서쉽 철회하면 넌 비자가 없어지는 것이야” 라고 생각하신다면 그것은 잘못된 생각임을 밝혀질 수도 있기 때문입니다. 따라서 스폰서는 배우자/파트너를 힘으로 돈으로 협박해서도 좋지 않겠습니다.
